Money, Meaning, and Well-Being: A Virtual Roundtable with Financial Therapy Experts

Time: 3:30 – 5 pm Location: Virtual (Zoom)

To kick off Love & Money Week 2026, the UGA Love & Money Center is hosting a free virtual roundtable with four practitioners who have built careers in and around this field. They’ll talk about what financial therapy actually looks like in practice, how they work with individuals, couples, and families navigating money, and where the field is headed.

Beyond Just Getting By: Supporting the Financial and Relational Lives of Families with Disabilities

Time: 9 am – 12 pm (doors open at 8:30, Networking lunch to follow) Location: Tate Reception Hall

This workshop brings together experts in mental health, financial planning, and disability support services to build a shared foundation — covering research, theory, and practical resources grounded in real family experience. The workshop closes with a moderated panel of individuals and families with disabilities sharing their stories and what they wish the professionals in their lives truly understood.

Space is limited — registration is required to reserve your spot. Students are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Start Before You’re Ready: Building Wealth as a Young Adult

Time: 4:30 – 5:30 Location: Tate Student Center

Join us for a candid conversation with Obioha “Obi” Okereke, founder of College Money Habits, as he shares the real story behind building a financial life from scratch — the budgeting basics, the habits that stuck, the mistakes worth learning from, and why starting before you feel ready is the whole point.

Financial Literacy on the Lawn

Time: 12 – 3 pm Location: Myers Quad

Join us for an extravaganza at Myers Quad, where you'll learn about an array of financial topics at student-led interactive booths (e.g., budgeting basics, investing, saving, and your money personality, to name a few!), connect with different well-being-related resources, and explore the connections between money and mental health! Enjoy music, games, and engaging activities throughout the event - and complete the event passport challenge by visiting 10 booths and get a free Kona Ice.
