Why I chose my major

I’ve always known that I wanted to help people in my career, but it wasn’t until I took HDFS 2100: Dating, Mating, and Communicating that I discovered the direction I wanted to pursue. I learned how important it is to truly understand people through their development, relationships, and behavior across their lifespan in order to better support them. Through Human Development and Family Science, I’ve been able to explore those areas in depth and gain the knowledge and skills needed to make a meaningful impact in others’ lives.

What I like most about FACS

In a big university full of ambitious students, Dawson Hall offered me a home away from home. I'm grateful to have had professors who care deeply about their students and make course material feel relevant to our individual careers and passions. Being part of a smaller college allows professors to connect with students more directly and tailor their instruction to individual interests.

Beyond my amazing professors, I'm thankful to have classmates who bring life and camaraderie to every lecture. Collaborating and applying what we learned helped deepen my engagement with course material and encouraged exploration across the many fields FACS covers. The College of Family and Consumer Sciences community, true to its name, is my UGA family.

Post-Graduate Plans

I will be continuing my studies at The University of Georgia, pursuing a Master's in Public Health with a concentration in Health Promotion and Behavior.
