Why I chose my major

I selected Fashion Merchandising as my major at the University of Georgia because this area of study makes my heart sing. Since I was a little girl, personalization, decorating, and treating every setting as a fashion show always fascinated me. To be able to pursue these same interests in UGA’s Fashion Merchandising program makes me feel like I made the right decision for not only the present version of Miquelyne but also the past version of myself. My major allows me to strengthen my creative skills, gain inspiration from my brilliant peers, and most importantly, challenge me in ways that will prepare me for the upcoming chapters of my life. Overall, Fashion Merchandising promotes inner-child healing, and I am eager to see how it heals post-grad Miquelyne. The idea of studying this major four years ago was once a dream and now I can look back and confidently say this dream has come true.

What I like most about FACS

What I admire most about the College of Family and Consumer Science is the sense of community that it consistently strives to foster. FACS encouraged me even before being a registered student at UGA. I was virtually supported by FACS faculty and staff members when I eagerly wanted to seek every piece of information I could receive regarding the Fashion Merchandising program and the requirements needed to excel as an incoming student. FACS has gifted me the opportunity to find myself through the relationships I formed, whether it was through my involvement in fashion student organizations, the NYC Fashion Tour Maymester Program, or attending classes in the TXMI department – I was able to unlock a unique side of myself through each of these memorable experiences. This university, this college, and this program will always hold a special place in my heart.

Post-graduation plans

Once I flip my tassel, I plan to stay connected with family, friends, and UGA/FACS alumni. A few weeks after graduating, I am blessed to join the world of childrenswear at Carter’s as an Assistant Merchant in the June 2025 Executive Development Program.
