- Why I chose my major
I chose to major in Fashion Merchandising because of my passion for the creativity and artistry behind fashion, as well as my interest in understanding the business side of the industry. Fashion is a powerful form of self-expression, and I have always been drawn to how clothing can influence identity and confidence. As a consumer, I became especially interested in what happens behind the scenes - how trends are researched and forecasted, how buyers select pieces for a store, and how visual merchandising and marketing influence what customers are drawn to and choose to purchase. Through my studies and hands-on retail experience, I have developed a deeper appreciation for how creativity and strategy work together in the fashion industry. I am excited to pursue a career where I can combine my eye for style with my knowledge of merchandising and continue learning and growing within the fashion industry.
- What I like most about FACS
What I enjoy most about FACS is the strong sense of community and support within the field. FACS is unique in how people-oriented it is, focusing on improving everyday lives and building meaningful connections. Throughout my experience, I have felt encouraged and supported by both peers and faculty, creating an environment that is welcoming and collaborative. I also value how FACS connects a wide range of areas such as Fashion Merchandising, Nutrition, Human Development, and Economics, all while maintaining a focus on real-world impact and improving quality of life. This sense of connection and purpose is what makes the field so rewarding and is something I truly appreciate being a part of.
- Post-graduation plans
After graduation, I plan to continue pursuing opportunities within the fashion and retail industry, particularly in fashion merchandising. I am currently in the process of applying for full-time positions and exploring roles that will allow me to continue building my experience and skills in the field. In the meantime, I also plan to continue working at Oconee Formal and gaining hands-on experience in retail and customer service. Additionally, I hope to travel during the summer, which will allow me to gain new perspectives and experiences. Overall, I am focused on staying active in my field, continuing to grow professionally, and remaining open to opportunities as they arise.
